Caring for Rabbits

What is Considered a Pocket Pet?

Pocket pets are smaller size pets that are usually kept in cages or aquariums. The term ‘pocket pets’ usually refers to furry mammals such as: Gerbils, Guinea pigs, Hamsters.

What about Birds and Reptiles?

Though our doctors do occasionally treat birds and reptile patients, we ask that you phone ahead with your concerns so we can ensure our doctor’s are comfortable treating the condition.

How do I Know if my Rabbit Needs to see a Doctor?

Rabbits can be very fickle and their symptoms can go from bad to worse very quickly. If you notice any of these signs, please phone us to schedule an appointment:

  • Lack of appetite
  • Hunched posture
  • No bowel movements or mucous in stool
  • Difficulty eating, drooling or facial swelling
  • Dull or missing fur
  • Runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing
